Issa Flop Not a Bop: "These Heaux" by Danielle Bregoli

"These Heaux"
Modern music of the 21st century has evolved drastically. Taking roots in the late 2000s, a new form began to grow and prosper. The term "trap music" would describe this selection, with rap taking on a harsher percussion and flow. Now this artist started her career as a preteen on "Dr. Phil," a show based on exploiting family therapy. Her famous, "Catch me outside how bout tha," line earned her internet stardom that she smartly used to begin a career of her choice, despite not graduating middle school and having been through the court system. Here she is with her first official single. The beat is good, having an unoriginal rhythm that is heard in many popular songs. her lack of spelling is permissible, for the sake of wordplay, but it's very over produced. Emotionally I'm confused, but at the same time annoyed at the repetitiveness of the song (who am I kidding I enjoy many songs that are just artists hitting the replay button), but what makes this one more annoying for me is her lack of humble features. Yes it's cool and all to "flex" but when you abuse your influence how am I supposed to respect you?

She does reflect on some real world struggles, as exposing your life on the internet draws hate and love andcyber bullying being a very real struggle. She also has a scene where a woman seems to have injections, showing a value in forms of authenticity. Where she fails to truly make an impact is that in that scene she only presents 'fake-ness' to make her self seem real and the best, dragging other women down with her. Modern music has always contained shots at women and romanticizing other 'bad' habits, and if you want to make a scene or be different in the industry, try and use a little creativity. Her story is a perfect example of the influence media has, as her bad attitude and pre-mature aging is all a side effect of what she has grown up with. I'm not bitter that she's two years younger than me and a mogul, the more power to her for using people's obsession to her advantage, but just being another name out there with little originality is pitiful and I know that she has a bigger influence than she realizes.
